While the name comes from the Dutch word for ‘tracks’, it’s just pronounced ‘sport’, as is the stubborn wont of the Englishman. Spoort are an unusual Leicestershire 4-piece that have been playing together in various iterations since primary school, whose brazenly eclectic sound combines live indie rock, British dance music, jazz chord changes, trap production, and whatever they’re feeling on the day. Their self-titled debut EP was released in 2020, with singles FLYY and Self earning critical acclaim from The FADER, BBC Radio 6, Apple Music 1’s Matt Wilkinson and BBC Radio 1’s Jack Saunders to name a few; Dork editor-in-chief Stephen Ackroyd even going as far as announcing Spoort his “new fave band, FYI”. Expect hard-hitting, genre-apathetic tracks from the band throughout 2021.
