I’ve got a new band
I’ve got a new band and we’re going out as Steven James Adams & The French Drops as soon as we’ve written and recorded this album.
My most recent record is called OLD MAGICK. It was recorded by Dan Michaelson and came out on Fortuna POP! in March 2016, available from all the usual places you get your music, although I particularly recommend getting it on vinyl. Until I made this record I’d always worked pretty fast, but a combination of circumstances and DM’s approach to the project taught me something about taking things slowly. So that’s what I’m doing from now on.
House Music was the record before that. It was released in September 2014. Here’s a review of it. Most of it was recorded in my house in Walthamstow, East London, and I had a whole load of friends help me with it.
Singing Adams (me, Matthew Ashton, Melinda Bronstein and The Amazing Michael Wood) is out of action, but it was a lot of fun while it lasted. We made two albums: Everybody Friends Now and Moves. You can get hold of the music we’ve made here, as well as all the usual places. Matt’s band The Leaf Library are up to all sorts. Michael’s in my new band as well as The Hayman Kupa Band, and he has some of his own tunes up here. Melinda has been currently studying experimental film-making.
I recorded an album 500 years ago called ‘Problems’ with Timothy Victor, under the name The Singing Adams and that’s available here. Tim’s moved to Cambridge and is living on bulletproof coffee.
The Broken Family Band split at the end of 2009. All that music is available to purchase from the usual outlets.
